The City of League City recently selected Ogden “Bo” Bass to serve as the new Assistant City Manager (ACM) beginning June 12.

In this position, Bass will be responsible for a wide variety of projects and strategic initiatives that support City Council, the City Manager and the community’s priorities and the City’s annual work plan. The ACM’s primary responsibilities will be external services and strategic initiatives. In addition, the ACM provides administrative guidance to assigned departments, assists with their budget development and administration, monitors and coordinates City programs and assists in the creation, implementation and presentation of long- and short-range strategic plans to meet the organizational needs of this growing City.

“I am humbled and thrilled to join League City's team of talented staff,” said Bass. “As an Assistant City Manager, I will give my best effort to contribute to the City's strategic initiatives, and further enhance its reputation for providing excellent customer service. I look forward with anticipation to serving League City, it's elected officials, business community and citizens.”

Bass has served the City of Allen as Director of Community Development since 2008. Before that position, he worked as Assistant City Manager in North Richland Hills, and Deputy City Manager in Bedford. In addition to his public-sector experience, Bass has seven years in the private sector. His responsibilities have included oversight and management of multiple departments including planning and development, economic development, engineering, public works, parks and recreation, and information services.

“Mr. Bass brings more than 24 years of municipal government experience to League City,” said John Baumgartner, City Manager. “As our new Assistant City Manager, he will help focus on several strategic initiatives including mobility, water supply, economic development, customer service and public outreach. We welcome Mr. Bass to our team.”

Bass attained Master’s degrees in land development and urban and regional planning from Texas A&M and a Bachelor’s from Texas A&M. He has also served as an adjunct professor in land development planning at the University of Texas at Arlington and holds a certificate from the American Institute of Certified Planners.

An Eagle Scout, he has served his communities through various activities including the United Way, the YMCA and Foundation for Allen Schools. Bass has a long history in the area having grown up in Freeport and still has family and friends scattered throughout the Houston area.
